Photos of Kids at Exhibit The Team Turtle Training Camp exhibit, designed for students in grades K-6th, is a hands-on experience relating directly to the Know Your Body health education curriculum, and covers the following topics: SAFETY, NUTRITION AND EXERCISE, SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION, and CONFLICT RESOLUTION.

EXHIBIT ACTIVITIES

The exhibit is filled with touch screen computer games and hands on activities to assist in making healthy choices. The Team Turtle Characters and activities represent four main areas: Safety, Nutrition and Exercise, Substance Abuse Prevention and Conflict Resolution. The activities are designed to allow students to make choices and see the consequences of their decisions. At the entrance of the exhibit there is an introductory video where you meet Dr. T and the Turtles. Dr. T is also featured at the Goal Bot Computer Game where students can conclude their experience by setting healthy goals and learning the importance of making a plan to reach the goals they set for themselves.

Kino = Safety
The exhibit features two interactive computer games, Play it Safe and Safety Inspector. The former allows students to gear up turtles for safety and the latter helps them identify safe and unsafe conditions in the home, on the street, and at the pool. Safety Gear, a hands on activity, allows students to place appropriate safety gear on the bicyclist and skate boarder using magnetic props.

Ferox = Conflict Resolution
The exhibit features A Cool It Down Booth where a computer game is connected to lights that change colors as choices are made on how to respond to anger. The Make Your Own Video computer game allows students to create a video by choosing an ending to various conflicts to see consequences. Students learn to identify feelings by placing magnetic faces to situations on a magnetic Feelings Storybook.

Diera = Nutrition
The exhibit features Diera's Diner Computer Game which allows students to make balanced meals. There is also a Healthy Body Bot computer game whose body lights up as he is fed to demonstrate how certain foods affect different parts of the body. There is a Vegetable Garden and Fruit Tree where students can select "five a day" for healthy meals. A Balanced Scale that balances various food servings with 30 minute exercises/activities illustrates how much exercise is needed to work off what you eat.

Claudi = Substance Abuse
The exhibit features a Drug Dummy, a hands on activity where students will insert various keys representing alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes, or inhalants into parts of the body which light up to show the resulting consequences. Students will spin the Refusal Skills Wheel, which provides sample responses to offers to smoke and drink alcohol. The students can sing the blues of smoking in the "I Won't Smoke" Karaoke Room.
