The mission of the Healthy Lifestyle Choices (HLC) program is to empower children with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices. In an effort to promote healthy choices throughout the Greater New Orleans community, and to reinforce the school-based curriculum program, HLC and Louisiana Children's Museum partnered to develop a museum exhibit and bus that will allow children to practice making healthy choices in a fun and engaging way.

The Team Turtle Training Camp (museum exhibit) and Team Turtle Mobile Training Camp (bus) feature five animated cartoon characters, designed as age-appropriate and culturally acceptable messengers that reinforce healthy choices in the areas of safety, conflict resolution, substance prevention and nutrition. By participating in hands-on activities at the museum, or through the mobile exhibit at their school sites, local children can practice making choices and experiencing the consequences.

The Team Turtle characters can also be seen regularly on local network and cable stations in a series of animated messages that further reinforce the importance of making healthy choices.
